Luguentz “Lu” Dort is a Canadian professional basketballer from the National Basketball Association’s Oklahoma City Storm Thunder (NBA). He was playing Arizona State Sun Devils College Basketball. In Mono, Ontario, he finished his high school career and he was ranked as one of the best secondary players in Canada as a five star recruit. He earned second team All-Pac-12 Conference honors in his first year at the Arizona State and was selected the Pac-12 all-defense team. The conference freshman of the year has also been selected.
Dort was born to Haitian parents in Montreal, Quebec, who moved from Saint-Marc to Canada when they were around 21. When he grew up in Montreal-Nord, his brothers later had inspired him to play basketball, and he played football as a goalkeeper. In Saint Laurent Park Dort played street basketball close to home. His interest in the sport helped him not, like his peers, pursue street gangs. At 12 years of age Dort started to play organized basketball at Park Extension in the Montreal neighbourhood, where Nelson Ossé coached him.
