Joe Manchin Net Worth – Joseph Manchin III (born August 24, 1947) is an American politician serving as senior U.S. senator from West Virginia, a position he has held since 2010. A Democratic Party member, from 2005 to 2010 he was West Virginia’s 34th governor, from 2001 to 2005 he was the 27th West Virginia State Secretary.
Manchin called himself the “moderate conservative democrat,” and he is often referred to as Senate’s most conservative democrat. West Virginia has developed into a state that mostly elects the republicans, but the electoral success of Manchin continues. He gained a wide margin in 2004 and in 2008 was re-elected with much more marginal representation; in both years he won West Virginia by Republican presidential candidates. Manchin secured the special election in 2010 for 54 percent of the voting in the Senate vacated by the death of incumbent Democratic Robert Byrd.
Manchin was elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates in 1982 at the age of 35 and was elected to the West Virginia Senate in 1986, where he served until 1996. In 1996 he ran for governor, losing Charlotte Pritt’s Democratic primary election. In 2000, he was elected Secretary of State of West Virginia.
Manchin declared in 2003 that it intends to challenge Democratic Governor Bob Wise in 2004. Wise chose not to seek reelection after a controversy, though Manchin won the primary and general elections in Democracia on a wide scale. His election was the first since 1964 to mark the succession of another governor of West Virginia from the same group.
